During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, the American sportscasting crew has to get used to receiving live coverage of Israeli athletes being held hostage by a terrorist group
The performances are all believable, the comedy is in the right places, and the pacing and timing are not enough to “leave you staring at the exit before the credits roll.” As someone who wasn’t familiar with the story, the details of what happened really intrigued me.
They did a solid job when they weren’t flying around plot points
Some might find the lack of scenery boring, but I think it worked here.
They touched on the political and emotional elements nicely
I think they wanted you to feel like the control room was their world, and to feel as they did on that important day.
It’s thought-provoking without being preachy
The addition of footage from the event itself, including the broadcast footage, certainly helped immerse you in the experience.
While it’s not a film I’ll be watching over and over again, it’s a very well-made piece that I’d recommend to friends who enjoy this type of film
