After the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, steps in to take control of Gotham’s underworld. Aside from a Bat-signal in the season finale, we never see our Robert Pattinson Penguin; In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer: Where was Batman? Colin Farrell fought hard to get his own version of The Penguin smoking tobacco in The Batman (2022), but he failed. However, in his own series, the character is portrayed as an occasional tobacco user who enjoys cigars. The umbrella falls off and the logo is replaced with the Warner Bros. logo. The Graham Norton Show Starring: Lady Gaga / Demi Moore / Colin Farrell / Richard Ayoade / Jack Savoretti (2024). The first episode of Matt Reeves’ I think those who haven’t seen the latter will be a little confused with The Batman. But I’ve been watching Batman for a while now, and the show has done a great job of quickly picking up where the movie left off, and not being a didactic rehash. It does a great job of capturing the film’s aesthetic and gritty tone, but there’s more to the show than the movie. As in Batman, Colin Farrell does a great job of portraying the Penguin as a stereotypical mob “street boy”; vulgar, dirty, lively, and quick to commit violence; yet smart, cunning, and able to read people. The character may have nothing to do with the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own way. I have my doubts about the show being about the Penguins in their teens; and I don’t know if the Penguin’s machinations will be enough to sustain a full season. But it’s a great start.
